The June holidays are here, which means it’s the perfect time to schedule your six-monthly check-up.
Regular check-ups are key when it comes to maintaining healthy teeth and gums, which is why we encourage all of our patients to come in and see us at least twice a year. Now that the kids are on holidays, why not use the extra time to bring the whole family in for a visit?
What do we offer?
We offer a wide range of general dentistry services designed to help our patients maintain optimal oral health. Oral hygiene and gum health are important aspects of preventive care, and our team can help you come up with an at-home practice to ensure that you are keeping your mouth in tip-top shape. We can also offer you advice on how to best prevent tooth decay (both through proper nutrition and with correct hygiene techniques). If you need help with other oral health-related problems, like smoking cessation, dry mouth or bad breath, do let us know as we are experienced in resolving these types of issues.
Can you treat tooth decay?
When you come in for a dental check-up, your dentist will examine your teeth and check for any oral health issues or abnormalities. If a problem like dental decay is detected, there is no need to worry. We can help you resolve the issue, most commonly with the application of a filling. Fillings can be made of two types of materials — a tooth-coloured resin that is free from mercury, or a silver filling that is made from amalgam. No matter which type of filling you choose, the procedure is simple and quick, and is usually completed in just one visit. In the case of dental decay, your dentist may recommend treating the issue with a porcelain inlay, which is a good option for large cavities. Porcelain inlays are tooth-coloured, which means that they blend in naturally, plus they are made of very durable material.
When can I bring my kids in?
We love treating children at our practice, and strongly believe that it is important to teach the value of oral health at an early age. Children’s teeth need to be carefully protected in order to prevent dental decay and to maintain good oral health in the long term. For this reason, we encourage you to bring your child in for their first check-up between the ages of two and three years old. Feel free to bring your little ones in even before this age when you come in for your own appointments, as this will allow them to become familiar with our practice and feel relaxed in the dental environment. Also, the earlier you bring your child in for a check-up, the sooner we can identify any potential issues and recommend treatment before problems become more complicated down the line.
What children’s dentistry services do you offer?
We offer a wide range of treatments for children, including routine dental check-ups and cleans, fissure sealants, restorations, mouth guards, orthodontic treatment, and dental x-rays. We encourage you to bring your child in every six months for a routine check-up to help them develop dental confidence and enjoy healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime. Even if you think that your children’s teeth look fine, it’s important to stick to these regular appointments to ensure that any issues are identified and resolved as early as possible. If you would like to make an appointment for you and your child during the June holidays, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. The team at Lara Smile looks forward to welcoming you and your family at the practice.
