Dental Implants from Dr Charlie Kahwagi
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are like artificial tooth roots that anchor into the bone. This form of dental care can be used to support a single tooth, multiple teeth or a full arch of teeth. They offer a fixed and permanent solution. They have the ability to replace missing teeth and even a full set of teeth. There are many systems, and the treatment options are extensive.
Dental implants are placed into the jaw, with the purpose of stimulating the bone so that the implant fuses with the bone. This process is known as ‘osseointegration’. This phenomenon was discovered in the 1960s and implant technology has continued to improve since then.
After the implants are placed, a period of healing is generally required. This happens before the tooth, or teeth, are attached. In some situations, the teeth can be placed immediately (within less than a day). The teeth fitted to the implants are made to look and feel like natural teeth. Harmony between the tissues, smile, and face are critical.
Advantages of dental implants treatment
Each stage of the implant procedure is performed under one roof. This avoids wasting your precious time visiting multiple practitioners for your restorative dentistry needs.
The doctor responsible for your long term general dental health is also heavily involved in your implant treatment. This is especially important as ALL implant work requires continual maintenance.
Experience makes a difference. Our implant surgeon, Dr Charlie Kahwagi, has been placing top quality dental implants since 1995. Initially being trained in placing “Branemark” (Nobel Biocare) implants. The training has extended to offer all of the world-leading implant systems.

Overdenture – Implant retained
Traditional dentures are reliant on suction and adhesive gel. However, an overdenture is designed, so it fits securely. This is done either to an existing natural tooth root or a titanium dental implant. This will provide you with excellent support and stability for your overdenture.

All On 4
All On 4 is a dental treatment that has gained popularity in the past decades as it can replace a full arch of teeth with the use of four supporting dental implants. All On 4 can help support full mouth rehabilitation for patients who are missing a number of teeth, or who’s teeth have been severely decayed or damaged.
All On 4 can help to replace the need for removable dentures and can also help you avoid the need for bone grafting. In turn, this can create a shorter treatment duration and improved results.
